Releve School of Ballet

28th September 2022
Releve School of Ballet

Relevé School of Ballet ran summer ballet workshops at the Activity Centre in August. Pupils ranged in age from 4-14 years old. Younger children enjoyed ‘Cinderella’ themed workshops where they learnt fun dances from the ballet Cinderella, re-enacted famous scenes from the ballet and dressed up as a ballerina or their favourite Disney princess. The children also made new friends, played games, puzzles and colouring.

Older pupils participated in “Back To School Workshops” which included a floor barre & stretch session, 1 hour ballet class and learning a solo from the ballet Giselle. Miss Grace was really impressed with everyone’s dancing and it was a wonderful way to get back into shape for the start of a new school year.

Classes were taught by Miss Grace, who is a qualified and registered Royal Academy of Dance teacher. She previously danced professional in ballet companies both in the UK and USA. Miss Grace loved sharing her knowledge and experience with the children and is looking forwards to running more workshops and holiday camps in the future, so be sure to keep an eye out for future dates!

Both current pupils of Relevé School of Ballet and new faces joined in the summer workshops and we had some really great feedback from parents.

Parent feedback
“Thanks to you and Jackie for a lovely workshop today. Lily was buzzing afterwards and keen to tell everyone about her new friends!”

“She said the ballet workshop was the most enjoyable summer camp and she wanted to take other ballet classes.”

“Poppy absolutely loved the workshop so hopefully there will be more for her to do in the future”

“She really did love The Cinderella Day”

“Gabriella really enjoyed your workshop day and would love to join any other workshop dates you have in the future so please let me know.”

Relevé School of Ballet also runs ballet classes from children age 4+ during term-time in Weybridge. If you would like more information or to book a FREE trial class please email Grace at office@releveschoolofballet.co.uk

Sports Days here at St George's

In the summer holidays when the College was on summer break we hosted 3 sports days for schools in this area. These were Chertsey High Wednesday 13 July, St Charles Borromeo Thursday 14 July and Salesians Wednesday 20 July. We had numbers ranging from 500 to 1200 children. They were all able to use our Athletic track, Marquee and Gazebos as it was an extra 2 hot weeks when they took place. They also had use of our Activity Centre. We were able to supply all their equipment needs and also a sound system and microphone. The schools involved were very pleased with everything and want to come back for more next year.

See some of their feedback below.

Chertsey High
It was wonderful day at St George’s. The staff were amazing helping to arrange everything.
-amazing use of facilities
-great equipment, gazebos, sport equipment, tables, chairs
-students and staff had a brilliant day and that’s thanks to your wonderful facilities

St Charles Borromeo
Can we express our thanks officially to the whole team. The inclusion of barriers was inspired, as well as the addition of the extra gazebos. The PA system worked brilliantly.
Our children are thriving with their athletics, many schools are noticing this and I truly believe opportunities such as running on a track at St Georges, does inspire our children to be the best that they can be. (see their photo).

Salesians
The day went really well! It is much better with them all in the middle of the track and with two toilet blocks available. We actually got through the day quicker than expected so that messed with our timings a bit! Thanks to all the team.

Bee-lieve Charity Foundation

24th August 2022
Bee-lieve Charity Foundation

We recently held a Charity Ball in our Activity Centre for the Bee-lieve charity foundation. This charity focuses on children’s mental health. This took place on Saturday 30 April 2022.

The charity wanted to hold an event that focused on peoples well being and to bring people back together after being away so long. Allowing people to go away having had a good experience and to feel lifted with the added bonus of raising money for the charity.

The charity were incredibly happy with how the ball went, they received an enormous amount of positive feedback and people asking if the ball will take place again next year. They are keen to re book again with us. We are very pleased that all went well and the evening was a success.

Children and Family Health Surrey

24th August 2022
Children and Family Health Surrey

We recently held a meeting in our Activity Centre for Children & Family Health Surrey on Thursday 21 July 2022. The event was very successful.

Please see their comments below from their Clinical Service Manager:

“ I want to convey my heartfelt thanks for allowing the Surrey Immunisation team to use the venue at your college. It was so lovely to see everyone in person, having spent the year doing all our meetings on Microsoft teams.

The nurses cover the whole of Surrey and visit every school which amounts to 503 in total.
We are out vaccinating every day of the academic year and can only afford 2 days a year to meet up at the beginning and end of the academic year. The chief executive Steve Flanagan came to convey his thanks to the team, and then we enjoyed a shared lunch in the sun.

Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in making this happen.

We look forward to visiting your school to immunise the young people next academic year”.

Silent Witness

Silent Witness

Back in 2021 we had the cast of Silent Witness here filming in our new Activity Centre. Preparation days were 27,28,29 January and they filmed on the 1, 2, 3 Feb. The filming was part of the story line ‘Brother’s Keeper’ Series 24 and it focused on the murder of a promising boxer which drew Nikki and Jack into the world of underworld boxing. They came fully prepared and made it look very realistic. We had some good feedback from the production company who said they had a great experience here and the location was amazing. The photo shows Emilia Fox who plays Dr Nikki Alexander and David Caves who plays Jack Hodgson outside our Activity Centre.

Silent Witness is a British crime drama television series produced by the BBC. It focuses on a team of forensic pathology experts and their investigations into various crimes. First broadcast in 1996. The series was created by Nigel McCrery a former murder squad detective based in Nottingham.

Surrey Search & Rescue (Surrey SAR)

7th April 2022
Surrey Search & Rescue (Surrey SAR)

We recently held an event here at St George’s College in our new Activity Centre with Surrey Search and Rescue (Surrey SAR), Saturday 26 March 2022, 1.30pm - 6.30pm.

The event was the first of its kind with around 35 guests including Surrey Councillors, Mayors, Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner & her Deputy. It was an opportunity to show their equipment and vehicles and explain more about the work of Surrey Search and Rescue. After two years of not being able to go out and about in the community (other than on callouts), this was a start of re-building community support and relationships.

The team really appreciated being able to use the College site in particular the Activity Centre and area outside it. Their guests enjoyed the event and surroundings. All in all, they were very pleased with the day and the contacts made.

Please look on their website for more information: https://sursar.org.uk
